Evaluations

2012 UTLL Player Evaluations

Parents will not be allowed in the gym during evaluations – no exceptions.

·         All 9, 10, 11, and 12 year olds will be evaluated by evaluators for placement purposes in our three Divisions (American, National, and Northern).
 
·         With an estimated 180 players trying out, we will have (4), 1 hour sessions with roughly 45 players at each session.
 
·         The criteria will focus on hitting mechanics (30%), throwing mechanics (10%), infield mechanics (30%), and outfield mechanics (30%).  A timed run will be part of the overall evaluation criteria.
 
·         The only equipment allowed to be brought in by players will be fielding gloves (including catcher’s gloves), batting gloves, helmets, and bats.  No catcher’s gear please.
 
·         A player who wishes to be evaluated for placement in any league which is not their predominant age league, must have prior approval of the UTLL board and must pay an additional evaluation fee.
 
·         Players who are unable to participate (due to illness or injury) will be placed in a League based on predominate age and subject to Board approval. Prior notice is required. If a player does not tryout, they are not eligible to play in the American League.

American League

  • Predominant age players are 11 and 12 year olds.  Each team will have a maximum of (8) 12 year olds.

National League

  • Predominant age players are 10, 11, and 12 year olds.  Each team will have maximum of (8) 12 year olds.

Northern League

  • Predominant age players are 9 and 10 year olds.
  • 6, 7, or 8* year olds will not be allowed to play in the Northern League.

7 & 8 League

  • Predominant age players are 7 & 8 year olds.
  • 5 or 6* year olds will not be allowed to play in the 7 & 8 year old league.

Tee Ball League

  • Predominant age players are 5 & 6 year olds.

* A league-wide exception is given for players who have birthdays falling within the months of May, June, and July, and who normally go to school at the higher grade.  These players may decide to play up a level. This exception applies only to 4 year olds who are entering Kindergarten; 6 year olds who are entering 2nd grade; and 8 year olds who are entering 4th grade.
